LifeGroups

LifeGroups are the place at Legacy where you can find community with a small group of people.  We see each LifeGroup as a miniature version of the larger body of Legacy.  Since we believe the church has five purposes - to worship, reach, connect, grow and serve - we believe that LifeGroups should reflect these same purposes.  Whether we are talking about the whole church, our LifeGroups or our individual lives, we are at our best when we live out all five of the purposes in a balanced fashion.

If you ask, "What does a LifeGroup do?" or "What../ are the fundamentals in being a LifeGroup?" the answer is the FIVE PURPOSES!

Worship - Take some opportunities as a LifeGroup to worship together.  This could mean taking communion together or simply sharing praises as a group for who God is and what He has done.

Reach - ALWAYS have an open chair when you gather.  Be in prayer for new people to come and experience the love of Christ in your group.  Always be ready to welcome new people.  Also be ready to spawn new LifeGroups to make room for new people.  Anything that is alive reproduces! 

Connect - Connection happens through doing life together throughout the week.  Also, the best connection happens when we are authentic and transparent with each other.  This happens best when a LifeGroup is about 8 to 12 people.  So many just say "I'm doing fine" when things are really falling apart.  Let's be real with each other.  (need QuickTime to watch video) 

Grow - Spiritual growth happens as we follow Jesus.  The best way to do this is to study God's word together and then do what it says.  A small group environment allows people to ask questions and to process through what the Bible is saying.  Then, we encourage each other to live out the truths of scripture.

Serve - At Legacy, we say that we are never more like Jesus than when we serve.  As a LifeGroup, find a need in the community or in the church body and meet that need.  Maybe there is a need in your group right now or maybe someone in your group knows of a need in a friend or coworker outside the group.  What a great opportunity to show Christ's love to someone who may not know Him.
