How do I live as a Christ-follower?
Resources for Living the Life Mission Questions
We are excited that you are with us on this journey to become more like Christ! If God's five purposes for us are really to become core to who we are, we need some resources that will help us. We don't claim to have all the answers or ideas, but we can offer you solid suggestions that will set you on the right path. First, we'll offer three general resources and then we'll give you some specific ideas to help you live out each of the purposes in your life.
*** Please know that you can also contact the church office to be connected with someone who can walk with you and help you grow in living out the five purposes. (Church office 972-618-4600) ***
General Resources
- We invite you to take 40 days to read Rick Warren's "The
Purpose Driven Life". Consider reading it with
someone or with a group of people and meet weekly to discuss
what you've been reading.
- 2. A foundational resource to help you begin your daily walk with God is The Life You’ve Always Wanted by John Ortberg. The writer gives you basic spiritual practices we all need to grow in our relationship with Christ.
- Suggest to your LifeGroup leader that
your LifeGroup spend some time around the specific purposes you would
like help with.
Specific Suggestions
WORSHIP
"I
would like more information on ways to worship God"
- Think of what everyday activity you can
do for the Glory of God.
- Set aside some dedicated time to meditate on
who God is. Read and worship through a Psalm. (Start with Psalm
145)
- Use the arts to inspire your own expression of
worship. (ex: worship CDs to inspire you to sing out praises to God
when you are alone or with your family, friends, or LifeGroup)
- Serve someone on a weekly basis.

GROW
"
I would like tools to help me become more like Jesus.
"
- Growing
in Christ means becoming like Christ. A disciple of Christ
is an apprentice to Jesus to learn the skills of how to live
life as a Christ Follower. You can begin to know what such
a life looks like by studying the teachings of Jesus in Matthew
5, 6, 7 .
- If
you would like to learn about spiritual exercises (disciplines),
you can begin by reading a primer like Celebration
of Discipline or My Identity
in Christ .
- Here are some online devotional websites
-
Try
journaling. Simply take time each day to write about
your life and about what God is showing you.
- Use SOAP (Read a Scripture,
Make Observations, Apply the scripture
to your life, and Pray about how God will use that
scripture in your life). Try journaling with SOAP.
- Read through the Bible in a year plan. There
are two at this website

would like help identifying my Spiritual Gifts and/or finding a place
to serve at Legacy"

on Leadership" and turn in your SERVE profile to your
LifeGroup leader or a church staff member. You can also submit
your SERVE profile online.
