HOLIDAYS

HALLOWEEN

Halloween is a challenging time for many Christian families. If your family does get involved in Halloween festivities, here are a THREE ideas for making sure Jesus stays in the center of it!

IDEA #1: Family Pumpkin Carving

Use carving a pumpkin to teach your kids about the gospel and God's promises. Here’s how:

START CARVING and then ask: How is the stuff we pull out of the pumpkin like sin in our hearts? (both yucky, they're inside us, sticky and smelly) How is the way we cleaned out our pumpkin like the way Jesus cleans us out when we confess our sins? (all the yucky stuff is taken away)

Carve the Pumpkin face then  Read 2 Cor 5:17 and  Ephesians 2:10 How do we become a new creation when Jesus comes into our hearts? (We learn to love Him more, our light shines & we become God's children)

Read 2 Corinthians 4:7-10 When Jesus comes into our hearts, we become new creations.

LIGHT CANDLE/TURN OFF LIGHTS and then read Matthew 5:14-16 and 2 Cor 4:6. Talk about how God wants our light to shine before others.

With Younger kids, Sing: This little light of mine.

End your family time with a prayer asking God to help your family be a light for Christ this Halloween!

IDEA #2

PASS OUT HALLOWEEN CANDY WITH A MESSAGE!

FOR EXAMPLE, YOU COULD GIVE OUT LIFESAVERS AND ATTACH THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT.

JESUS WANTS TO BE YOUR

LIFE SAVIOR!

IDEA #3

BE A LIGHT THE NIGHT HOUSE THIS HALLOWEEN!

Hang out in your front yard with lights and flashlights!

Invite the neighbors over for hot chocolate.

What is Light the Night?

Light the Night is a Christian outreach for Halloween night and an excellent opportunity to take back ground in which the enemy has controlled for too long. In allowing our "light" to shine on a very dark night, it is a very simple way to combat that darkness with the love of Christ. It is also a very non-threatening way to get to know your neighbors and bless them at the same time.

Remember, more light means less darkness. Why not join us in taking this night back with the love and light for Christ. (THIS LIGHT THE NIGHT EXERPT COMES STRAIGHT FROM THEIR WEBSITE)
