God
owns everything.
1 Chronicles 29:11 says, "Yours, O LORD, is the greatness
and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for
everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the
kingdom; you are exalted as head over all."
You are a steward, or manager, of God's things. God joyfully
expects you to invest his things for his purposes. Jesus told a parable to
teach this principle. Read Matthew 25:14-30.
Giving is a joyful response to God's love for you in Christ
Jesus. 2 Corinthians 8:9 tells us, "For you know the grace of our Lord
Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so
that you through his poverty might become rich."
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 says, "Whoever sows sparingly will also
reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give,
not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
Giving is a matter of faith, trusting God will supply your
daily needs and enough to invest in his purposes. 2 Corinthians 9:8-11 tells
us, "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things
at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and
increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.
You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion,
and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God."
The tithe is the biblical benchmark for our giving. Malachi
3:10 tells us to "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there
may be food in my house. Test me in this,' says the LORD Almighty, 'and see
if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing
that you will not have room enough for it."
Our core value related to giving at Legacy is:
"God owns it. I manage it." God is the owner of all things. We are
God's investment managers.
Our motto related to giving as part of experiencing what we
call "total living" is:
"Investing your time, talents, and treasures in people and projects that
yield eternal value."
We offer Financial
Peace University and Crown Financial Ministries throughout
